Modern archery competition products consists of bows, points, arrow shafts,  nockbusters and other equipment related to Archery Competitions. In competition archery, precision is the key aspect and getting the arrow to the target is the main concern. Points are given for each ring: 1 to 10 starting from the other ring until the X Ring, and in terms of a tie, the player with most Xs wins. Bows come in different lengths and draw weights. For example, a particular brand of bow:

Hoyt Vantage Elite Plus Bow

Draw length: 27.5”

Draw weight:60#

Arrow length: 31”

Fletching: 4”

Point weight: 250 grain

Points are bullet like tips for arrow shafts. Nockbusters are pins that have a sharper point than points which are blunter. Arrow shafts are chosen depending on what bow is used, if you use a compound bow or a traditional bow. These are made from carbon, carbon aluminum hybrid, aluminum and one has to factor in point weight, bow weight and arrow length in choosing ones arrow shafts.

In hunting, one also considers the relationship of kinetic energy vs momentum. These are used together and interchangeably to describe the energy of the bow and arrow. Kinetic energy is the total energy of the arrow and broadhead at a given time. When the arrow is released until it hits its target it slowly loses energy. Momentum or Persistence is what propels the arrow into an animal. It describes the way we want our arrow to perform and how it will go through hide or bone when it hits the intended game animal.
